Depth and texture
This painting of two young children running through a field reminds me of running through the fields at my grand-parents farm. It was a place I felt a sense of freedom along with my four siblings. I painted this with the image of my two daughters in mind, a few years down the road. They won’t get the chance to visit my grandparents farm now but I imagine them there, running away from me as they’re growing up so fast, and by the time they get to the other side of the hill, they’ll be grown. It makes me hopeful, and incredibly sad and nostalgic at the same time. I ache for them to grow up strong but to also stay my baby girls forever.
